What is Botox?

Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox, is not an exact treatment, but a commercially produced drug that utilizes botulinum toxin type A. Botox treatment is a generic term for procedures that use this toxin. Botox has become synonymous with wrinkle treatment due to its ability to diminish wrinkles around the eyes or between the eyebrows by relaxing facial muscles. It can be considered one of the most representative petit plastic surgery procedures, alongside filler treatments.

The Purpose of Botox

Botox is widely used for both therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. Therapeutically, it helps treat hyperhidrosis in the armpits, hands, and feet. Cosmetically, it’s used to reduce square jaws, slim down calves, prevent wrinkles, and reduce muscle volume by inducing muscle paralysis. The consistent use of Botox every six months in suitable areas can help maintain a youthful appearance more effectively.

THE PLUS Botox

01. forehead

Wrinkles that form on the forehead receive the greatest benefit from Botox. They occur when the corrugator and procerus muscles contract when the eyebrows are frowned. When a small amount of Botox is injected, the muscles become paralyzed or weakened, smoothing out the wrinkles.

02. glabella

Vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, typically caused by a habitual frown, can be challenging to eliminate. Botox treatment in this area can provide the added benefit of slightly lifting sagging eyebrows and correcting frowning habits, making it a highly beneficial procedure.

03. nose

Botox treatment is also possible for wrinkles between the eyes and on the bridge of the nose.

04. undereye

It is also effective for layered wrinkles around the eyes and fine wrinkles under the eyes.

05. square jaw

This is a common area for Botox treatment, and it effectively reduces the amount of muscle volume, making your face look slimmer and smaller.

06. trapezius/calf muscles

Botox treatment can also be effective on the trapezius and calf muscles. However, excessive dosage or too frequent treatment may cause side effects or reduced efficacy.
