Square jaw surgery is recommended for cases where the overall facial impression appears angular or the sides of the face appear large. This surgical procedure becomes necessary when the lower face appears heavy or chubby.

The Purpose of Square Jaw Reduction Surgery
It is not appropriate to undergo surgical removal of the jaw angle solely based on having a square jaw.
The surgical approach for square jaw reduction may vary depending on the jaw’s shape. However, if the square jaw appears large from the side, it is reasonable to consider resecting the corners of the square jaw. On the other hand, if the wide square jaw is noticeable from the front, cortical bone resection tends to be more effective.
