How is a Thread Lift Done?
Thread lifting is done by inserting a special medical-grade thread into the skin and then pulling and lifting the skin into the desired position, and concurrently smoothing wrinkles. The threads themselves work by holding the skin in place with small cogs, or barbs, ensuring a strong hold for longer-lasting results. The threads are cut flush to the skin, and are practically invisible to the naked eye.
Popular treatment areas for thread lifting are the smile lines (nasolabial folds), jowls and marionette lines (melomental folds), as well as the mid-face and neck, but they can also be applied other areas. The results of thread lifting vary from person to person, but in general they can last from a few months to over a year depending on the type of thread used and the condition of the skin.
THE PLUS Thread Lift with VXIL Threads
Here at THE PLUS, our preferred threads for lifting are VXIL threads. Also known as V Seal, they are an absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) thread. They are inserted through a fine needle, eliminating the need for a skin incision. Gradually dissolving within the body over the course of 6 to 8 months, they continually stimulate collagen production and fibroblasts while they remain in the body. For two to four weeks after the procedure, you may experience a pulling or stinging sensation when smiling, eating, or brushing your teeth. Refrain from facial massages, meridian treatments, excessive exercise, drinking, smoking, or saunas for one month after the procedure.
